Autumn 2009
Gosh, half the term gone already. I know lots of people are saying, 'What half-term already,' but the children are very tired and lots of them have been poorly so maybe 'Half -term atlast,' might be nearer the mark.
Neverless we have had a very busy and productive half-term and we have made a pretty seemless transition to The Junior Department.
Literacy
After half term we will be extending our work on narrative dialogue into play writing so any chance to read some playscripts will be very helpful. We have lots at school but if you are at the library or you look online then I'm sure you will find lots to have a look at.
We will then be going on to do some work on poetry and then onto factual texts.
Numeracy
We will be looking at patterns in number before launching into multiplication and division. A quick sortie into time telling and data handling will be keeping us busy in the run up to Christmas.
Science
We have still got a little bit more work to do on teeth and eating before we have a jolly good time playing with magnets and springs.
Topic
After our exciting discovery at the beginning of term we will be thinking more about extinction in the next half term and creating our own environmental pods.(P.S. We will be needing lots of shoe boxes if you could save any you have.)
Art
Our drawings have been very impressive but we are going to be creating some sculptures so watch out in the Turner prize nominations for breaking news.
D.T.
Our D.T. models are slowly taking shape and a big thankyou to mums who have been helping us with our soup making.
We will be doing lots of other things aswell including word processing in I.C.T, Rituals in R.E. And democratic processess in P.S.H.E to name a few.
